Crypto restricted in Singapore: your options
What you can do right now
Singapore keeps a short list of licensed crypto firms and gives police unusual power over bank accounts. So when funds stop moving here, it may be an exchange review, a bank action, or an order made to protect you from a scam. Those three look alike at first and call for very different responses.
Local specifics
Check the licence first
MAS told Parliament in August 2026 that 37 digital payment token providers were licensed, out of close to 300 applications since 2020. Check your platform in the MAS directory before you rely on it. An offshore exchange you can reach from Singapore is not necessarily one that MAS supervises.
A police order can restrict your bank
Under the Protection from Scams Act, in force since 1 July 2025, police can direct banks to restrict a person's banking facilities to stop a suspected scam. An order lasts up to 30 days and can be extended five times. An appeal goes to the Commissioner of Police, whose decision is final.
Offshore-only firms were told to stop
Since 30 June 2025, firms in Singapore serving only customers abroad have needed a licence that MAS said it would grant only in extremely limited circumstances. If your platform was run from Singapore for overseas users and has gone quiet, this may be why. That case is about recovering funds, not passing a review.
Don't count on FIDReC yet
In October 2026 MAS proposed that payment institutions join the FIDReC dispute scheme. That is a consultation, not a rule, and it isn't clear how far it would reach crypto platforms. For now, assume your first routes are the firm's own complaint process and, in a fraud case, the police.
Want to file it yourself, but not empty-handed?
Not everyone needs full representation. If an exchange or bank is waiting for your answer, the dossier covers the blockchain side, the part that is hardest to put together alone. You add the income documents; the checklist is inside.
- Full transfer ledger with hashes
- Sanctions screening across three hops
- Timing analysis: did funds arrive before or after the counterparty was frozen
- A letter to compliance in English and a document checklist
The dossier is built on an address on TRON, Ethereum or Solana. If you deposited over another network or by transfer from another exchange, start with the free assessment. The exchange's compliance team makes the decision, and nobody can guarantee an unfreeze.
What Onyx does in your case
- Forensic report on your addresses: what exactly triggered the flag, how far your funds really are from the risk cluster, and what the counterparties show.
- Source of Funds dossier: a chronological reconstruction of your capital with documents, in the format compliance actually reads.
- Communication with the platform's compliance or your bank: one consistent, verified position instead of a pile of scattered tickets.
Frequently asked questions
My bank restricted my account without warning. Could this be a scam order?
It is possible, particularly if you recently moved money at someone else's instruction. Ask the bank which team placed the restriction and what it requires. If the police made the order, it was done to protect you, so talk to the officer before you try to move funds any other way.
My exchange isn't on the MAS list. Am I out of options?
No, but the regulator route is much weaker. Your position then rests on the platform's terms, your evidence and any police report. We can show what your addresses look like on-chain, so you can answer the platform precisely.
Will MAS step in on my dispute?
Do not plan around it. Use the firm's complaint process first, and write down what you asked for and when. If there are signs of fraud, a police report comes first.
Which networks can you check for a client in Singapore?
The country makes no difference. Run the addresses you used through the free check: it covers USDT on TRON, Ethereum and Solana, and USDC on six EVM networks.
